My name is James Harris and I am a game system designer focusing on deep, robust, and intelligent game systems, engaging both the player user and the designing team. I believe that a game system that focuses on the user can result in endless emergent gameplay and some of the most memorable, and engaging, moment to moment gameplay in any game. Whether it is a puzzle mobile game, a deep world economy of a MMORPG, or even a fast-paced and skill based FPS game, I think there are endless opportunities to inject my style of game system design into any genre.

With my formal education and MFA from SCAD, I use that knowledge to further the field of game in the form of user centric game systems. My writing includes counters to DDA as well as a proposition of my own to replace it in certain games, focusing on the player based reading instead of difficulty. Alongside my love for deep game systems and their development, teaching others and guiding people in the use of game systems, game architecture, and unreal engine is my other passion. I have tutored the use of game design for several years across multiple colleges, been a TA and instructor for game play and system based classes, and finally assisted in working on developing a game system centric class.

Whether it is a new team, a well developed game team, or a university looking for a professor, I know I can help make them a higher level.
